A journal for the most expensive hole in the garden
Custom Pools is an independent Australian publication about custom swimming pools. The domain name is the brief: we write for households, landscape architects and builders who are specifying water as architecture, not buying a kit from a catalogue and hoping the setback works.
The original site is no longer reachable through the Wayback Machine in a usable form, so this relaunch reconstructs the niche from first principles. Australia has a public culture of ocean baths and a private culture of backyard water. Between those two sits a specialised trade: concrete shells, fibreglass moulds, salt chlorinators, wet-edge troughs, AS 1926 fencing, council certifiers and the particular cruelty of a west-facing coping in January.
We do not sell pools. We do not take a cut from a builder referral. When a piece includes a paid or guest-post link it is marked with rel="sponsored" and disclosed in the copy. The house rules live on the editorial standards page. Contributors should start with write for us.
The editors can be reached through the contact form, which delivers to support@worldwidebacklinks.com. Image licences and photographers are listed on the credits page. Every photograph on this site is Creative Commons or public domain, downloaded and hosted here.
How the journal is organised
Essays sit in six hubs: design and planning, construction, materials and finishes, water, climate and care, outdoor living, and cost, compliance and regions. If you only read one piece before you ring a designer, start with how to brief a custom pool designer.
